These are serious, owner-operable yachts with generous accommodation, the latest systems and genuine offshore ability — and at this budget, the selection of recent, well-found boats is wide.

The recurring theme at this level is equipment already fitted. A lightly used yacht two to five years old typically carries the electronics, sails, watermaker, tender and cruising gear that would add substantially to a new-boat price — so used generally delivers more capable yacht per euro than new. New wins only where warranty, the latest design and full customisation outweigh that. Most boats under €1,000,000 are designed for short-handed operation, often with no more than a single crew member for guests.

A full independent survey and sea trial are essential even on newer yachts, and offshore systems and redundancy deserve close attention if you intend serious cruising.
