Fountaine Pajot's benchmark 50-foot catamaran. Launched in 2022, available in three- to six-cabin layouts, with optional ODSea+ hybrid drivetrain. The most-listed FP in the 50-foot bracket.
The Aura 51 entered production in 2022 as Fountaine Pajot's flagship 50-foot sailing catamaran, replacing the Saba 50 as the yard's mid-flagship offering. Designed by Berret-Racoupeau (the firm behind most of FP's modern range) with interior styling by Andrew Winch Designs, the Aura 51 was positioned to compete directly with the Lagoon 50 and 51 in the premium charter and owner-cruiser segments.
In late 2025, Fountaine Pajot rebranded the Aura 51 as the FP51 as part of its new generation lineup. The hull, layout options and basic platform are unchanged — the FP51 is the same boat with new branding and minor equipment refreshes. On the resale market, every boat built between 2022 and late 2025 is sold as an Aura 51, and most search demand still uses the original name.
For buyers, the Aura 51's strengths are: genuine flexibility across owner and charter use (the 6-cabin Sextet version is widely adopted by charter fleets, while the 3- and 4-cabin Maestro versions suit owner-cruisers), strong sailing performance for a boat of this volume, and the optional ODSea+ hybrid drivetrain for owners prioritising sustainability. Trade-offs are significant base-spec equipment gaps (typical owner-package adds €150k+) and a high air draft that limits some Mediterranean canal routes.
Specifications are manufacturer figures for a base specification Aura 51. Individual boats vary based on year, equipment, and owner modifications. Always verify against the specific boat's documentation during survey.
The Aura 51 is offered in multiple layouts. Choosing between them is the most important decision in a Aura 51 purchase, and meaningfully affects price, resale, and how the boat actually lives.
The starboard hull is dedicated to a single owner suite with island king berth, ensuite head with separate shower, dressing room, and dedicated office. The port hull contains two guest cabins with a shared head. Best for couples and small families. Trades at a 10–15% premium to charter version.
Both hulls split into three cabins each, with six heads (one per cabin). Sleeps up to 12 guests plus crew in saloon and forepeaks. Designed for intensive charter operations. Lower per-cabin price; the dominant layout in charter fleets and on the resale market. The 4- and 5-cabin Quatuor and Quintet versions sit between these extremes.

Indicative 2026 ranges for the Aura 51 across condition, year, and layout. Country of sale also affects pricing — Italian and French inventory typically lists 5 to 15 percent above Spanish or Greek equivalents.

Browse all Fountaine Pajots →MS25L saildrives need diaphragm and seal replacement at 5–7 years. On 2022 hulls now coming up to that interval, this is a near-certain €5,000–€8,000 job per side. Check for any saltwater intrusion into gear oil.
Charter Aura 51s typically show 2,500–4,500 hours by year 3, owner-version typically 600–1,200 hours. Volvo D2-60s are robust but service records matter — annual service, valve clearance checks, and impeller replacements should all be documented.
Charter-fleet Aura 51s often run heavily-used sails by year 3. Main and genoa replacement together is €18,000–€28,000 on this size of boat. Code 0 is optional and worth verifying — if present, check the furling system condition.
If the boat is ODSea+ equipped, this is a complex hybrid drivetrain with significant ongoing maintenance requirements. Verify lithium battery state-of-health, inverter condition, and that all software updates have been applied. Demand documentation from an FP-authorised technician.
The 1.5–2.0kW solar array on the coachroof is an Aura 51 standard option that's valuable but degrades. Check panel output under load. Also verify lithium house bank state of health if upgraded from base AGM.
FP's signature elevated single helm has poor forward visibility from the helm seat with the bimini up — verify the boat has the optional helm camera or that you're comfortable with the sightlines. Worth €3,000–€5,000 to retrofit.
Used Aura 51 prices typically range from €680k for an early 2022 charter-version with high engine hours, up to €1.1M for a 2024 Maestro owner-version with low hours and full equipment. New builds (now badged FP51) start at approximately €1.05M for base specification, rising to €1.5M and above with the typical owner's equipment package. Charter-version Auras typically trade 10–15% below Maestro equivalents.
They are essentially the same boat. The Aura 51 was launched in 2022 and rebranded as the FP51 in late 2025 as part of Fountaine Pajot's generational refresh. The hull, the layout options, and the platform are unchanged. The FP51 includes minor equipment refreshes — Lewmar deck hardware upgrades and a new Incidence Sails lashing system — but otherwise it's the same boat. Resale market still trades almost entirely under the Aura 51 name.
The Aura 51 is offered in four layouts: Maestro 3-cabin (full owner suite in starboard hull), Maestro 4-cabin (owner suite plus 3 guest cabins), Quintet 5-cabin, and Sextet 6-cabin (both hulls split into three cabins each, designed for charter).
Yes — the Sextet 6-cabin Aura 51 is one of the dominant boats in current Mediterranean and Caribbean charter fleets. It accommodates up to 12 guests plus crew, has the engine power and tankage for week-long charters, and the layout is well-proven for charter operations. Charter-yield economics typically favour the 6-cabin layout strongly.
Yes — the Aura 51 is a competent ocean-cruising catamaran and Atlantic crossings are routine. With 900 litres of fuel and 700 litres of fresh water standard, plus the strong sailing performance of the Berret-Racoupeau hull, it's well-suited to ARC and similar transatlantic routes. Many private owners use the Aura 51 specifically for blue-water cruising.
Different design philosophies. The Lagoon 50 emphasises interior volume and a more conservative sailing setup; the Aura 51 emphasises sailing performance and a slightly more refined finish. Both are excellent — Lagoon 50 wins on charter fleet familiarity and parts network depth; Aura 51 wins on sailing dynamics and cabin layout flexibility. Pricing is broadly comparable on the used market.
